PopSOC Breakfast Club FAQ

Why has Breakfast club moved to the school hall?

Poppleton Ousebank has taken ownership of the building for use as an art studio. Breakfast club has moved over to the school hall so that the building can be set up for lessons prior to the children arriving in the morning.

What is available during Breakfast club?

We have the same range of cereals and yoghurts on offer, as well as a selection of pancakes, bagels, muffins, crumpets and toast that are prepared-to-order. There is also milk, water or fresh fruit juice to drink.

We have a wide selection of resources for the children, too – cars, Lego, tea sets, jigsaws, board games, art and craft materials, Meccano, Top Trumps and various boxes brought over from the club. We are open to suggestions, too, and will get anything – within reason! – that is requested. There is also ample space should the children wish to play a group game or practice their cartwheels!

How do I contact PopSOC during Breakfast club?

You can either contact PopSOC on ***** <tbd> ****** or, if it is not for immediate attention, you can call 01904 783653 and leave a message, which will be picked up in the afternoon.

What are the benefits of the move?

We have more space for the children to play. The school hall, whilst unfamiliar as a PopSOC setting, is a very familiar place for the children and a place they feel settled. Working in the school creates a closer relationship between ourselves and the school. The building itself is cleaned thoroughly each day and any maintenance issues are dealt with as soon as possible after they occur through already-established contacts the school have.

Who is running the club?

PopSOC is still an independently run club, managed by a Voluntary Committee.

Will it affect the After School club?

It will not affect the After School club. The club will still operate from the club building and with the same resourced and activities as before. The level of care will remain unaltered.

Will it affect the Holiday club?

As with the After-School club, the Holiday club will not be affected. It will continue to run from the building all through the school holidays, with the exception of bank holidays. The activities and resources will remain the same, as will the high quality of provision and care.

What is our experience of Breakfast club after the first few weeks?

Overall, we have found the new routine for Breakfast club to run a lot smoother than we had originally thought. The PopSOC staff have worked extremely hard to provide the same high standards as they had in the club building. Understandably, there have been a few teething problems, as we suspect there will be for the next few months while everyone adapts to the situation, but each problem has been worked on straight away and both Mr Reeve and Mr Ward have both been incredibly approachable and helpful in these matters.

What do the children think about the move?

The children seem to have adapted well to the new routine and have embraced the new resources. A few still seem hesitant to eat as much as they have done previously, but this should hopefully change as time goes by. We have asked the children if there is anything they would like to have during Breakfast club and we have acted on those wishes.

How do I share my opinions of the move?

If you would like to let us know how you feel about the move and the new routine, you can either arrange a time to speak to the Manager or contact the PopSOC committee.

How do I contact the Committee?

You can contact the Chairperson, Nicky Brown, on 07951 481924 or you can contact the Committee at <tbd>
